An alternative to food crops could be the biofuels from microalgae. A Spanish consortium, composed of AlgaEnergy, the Ministry of Development, CSIC, AENA and Iberia, has opened a pilot plant for the reasearch and production of microalgae in the Barajas Airport (Madrid).
