Expoquimia 2017 has granted the prestigious Biotechnology Award to our innovative product AgriAlgae®.
Carmela Pérez Calleja and José María Gregorio, AlgaEnergy’s Business Development team, collected the award handed by Carmen Vela, the Secretary of State for R&D+i.
AlgaEnergy has been recognized this week with the “Award for Biotechnology Research and Innovation” granted by the organization of the event Expoquimia, a triennial Fair held in Barcelona that gathers the main players in sectors such as biotechnology, chemical or industrial engineering, amongst others. Carmela Pérez Calleja, AlgaEnergy’s Business Development Manager, collected the award handed by Mrs. Carmen Vela, the Secretary of State for Research, Development and Innovation.
AlgaEnergy has been awarded for our agricultural biostimulant based on microalgae AgriAlgae®, in the category of Biotechnology R&D. The jury highlighted the high quality of the projects presented at the 5th Edition of these prestigious triennial awards, and decided to reward an innovative research intense product that is obtaining excellent results since its market launch. In fact, AgriAlgae® is a good example of microalgae valuation and how a considerable effort in R&D has culminated in a great added value product.
The main purpose of these prizes is to reward innovative projects, promoting the application of R&D and knowledge in order to obtain new products that improve the quality of life of our society.
Carmela Pérez Calleja highlighted that “this award is a recognition to the effort of AlgaEnergy’s team and our strong commitment to R&D, which is in our DNA”.

Pérez Calleja summarized AlgaEnergy’s trajectory underlining that “this award is really special for us, especially since this year that we celebrate our 10th anniversary. It is an extra motivation to keep working on the development of high value products based on microalgae which, such as AgriAlgae® does, are efficient and sustainable, and contribute to improve our way of life”, she added.
This prize joins the long list of awards received by AlgaEnergy in our short but intense trajectory. As a matter of fact, this year AlgaEnergy was already granted another prestigious award, namely the “Award for Sustainability and Organic Production“, granted by the organization of the event Infoagro Exhibition 2017.
