Carlos Rodríguez-Villa Förster, CEO of AlgaEnergy, has been appointed as President of the European Biostimulants Industry Council (EBIC). This appointment, effective immediately, follows a vote by the EBIC Board after Arne Pingel stepped down as President due to professional changes.
Arne Pingel’s presidency, which spanned two years, was marked by significant contributions to EBIC and the biostimulants sector. Under his leadership, the association strengthened its role as a driving force in agrifood systems and advanced food systems across Europe. On behalf of AlgaEnergy, we extend our gratitude to Arne for his dedication and leadership, and we wish him great success in his future endeavors. Reflecting on his terms, Arne shared:
“It has been a great honor to represent EBIC and its members as your President. The association is going from strength to strength, with new initiatives such as the annual Summit demonstrating EBIC’s influence and authority across Europe’s agrifood systems. My commitment to our industry and the association remains strong, and I look forward to contributing again in the future. In the meantime, I am pleased to hand over the reins to such a capable leader in Carlos Rodríguez-Villa Förster.”
Carlos Rodríguez-Villa Förster, who previously served as Vice-President of EBIC, assumes this new role with a clear vision for the future. His appointment underscores both his personal dedication and AlgaEnergy’s active involvement in advancing biostimulants as vital tools in today’s agriculture and resilient food systems. Upon taking on this responsibility, Carlos expressed:
“Firstly, I would like to thank Arne for his strong leadership over the last two years and his commitment to advancing our sector. A hallmark of Arne’s presidency has been his personal concern for the well-being of the company representatives who are active in the association. It has been a pleasure working with him, and I am sure members will join me in wishing him every success in his future endeavors. As President, I look forward to continuing EBIC’s mission and implementing our Mid-Term Strategy, promoting biostimulants as essential to advanced food systems across the world.”
Carlos will serve as EBIC President until the next General Assembly in June 2025, where a formal election will determine the leadership for the following two-year term.
This presidency reinforces AlgaEnergy’s commitment to driving progress in agrifood systems and ensuring biostimulants play a central role in addressing the challenges of modern agriculture. We are proud to support Carlos in this important leadership role and look forward to contributing further to the growth and development of the biostimulants industry.
